Jewish Cookies

Ingredients

Cookie Dough

  • Flour
    3cups
  • Egg Yolks
    3
  • Crisco Shortening
    1cup
  • Sour Cream
    1cup
  • Dry Yeast(non-quick rising)
    1package

Nut Mixture

  • Sugar
    1 1/4cups
  • Nuts(chopped)
    1/2cup
  • Cinnamon
    1/4tsp
  • Cocoa
    2tbsp

A rolled cookie with a sweet nut filling.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix the flour and dry yeast together in a large bowl.
  3. Add Crisco with a pastry cutter.
  4. Mix in sour cream, mix very well.
  5. Mix in egg yolks.
  6. Roll mixture into 2 inch balls.
  7. Combine all the ingredients of the nut mixture in a small bowl.
  8. Sprinkle the nut mixture evenly onto a clean and dry surface.
  9. Roll each dough ball through the nut mixture, making sure to coat evenly.
  10. Roll the dough out with a rolling pin.
  11. Cut each piece of dough into 2 inch squares.
  12. Roll each piece of dough like a crescent roll.
  13. Place on a greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
  14. Bake 15-20 minutes.
  15. Let cookies fully cool before enjoying!
